President Arthur was a self made man with strong convictions which lead to a very interesting life. Despite his illness he persevered and remained President, it is good to know the people liked him by the time he left office. I'll bet his Christmas cards would have been exquisite as he had such good taste

As with any life cut short, it's a shame we will never know what additional accomplishments this man would have had. Or, then again, maybe he would had fallen from grace by making some bad decisions, we will never know.

My mother has a ceramic plate with the painting of the deserted barn on it. You can see and feel the brush strokes on it. I am wondering if anyone can give me more info on this plate. She recieved it from her grandmother in the '70s. We are wondering if it is authentic or just a pretty plate.

I have always been a big fan of bill Clinton as a president. He was a great president. I am surprised however that someone who can play the saxophone as well as Bill Clinton only ended up with a 65% approval rating.

Did I read that right? He was 49 and married a 21 year old? Wow, I would have thought that would have been looked down upon, especially since the people did not live as long as they do now. But, then again, who are we to judge? I'm glad it worked out for them both.

I don't think it would have mattered what President Buchanan did; the Civil War was inevitable and taking sides may have made matters worse. Honestly, it seems to me he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and if times were different he would have been a fine President due to his political background both foreign and domestic

That was a very interesting story, it seems like people who lived in his era had much more difficult time with life issues. I always thought the current generation had it harder, but apparently not. Nevertheless, I'm glad to be alive now instead of then!

Grover Cleveland was a wonderful President I wonder if his sons went into politics? It is so different today because of the constant media attention the President's office gets I don't think Grover Cleveland would have ever been elected a second time after marring a woman half his age and that would have been wrong for the country. Maybe we should rethink all of the news that is made public and only hear about how great the Presidential Christmases were-censorship is a rough road!
